Le funzionalità di DronesBench

STRATEGIC TOOL FOR THE INDUSTRY OF PROFESSIONAL DRONES
For producers
The mission of DronesBench is to provide the drone manufacturers with the possibility to optimize the engineering of their products by pushing the performance of on-board electro-mechanics to the limit and thus raising the IDB as high as possible. IDB, DronesBench Index, represents the grams lifted by a single watt of power, and therefore sums up and characterizes the efficiency of the propulsion systems of the drone. Moreover, while testing drones, the IDB value within certain limits confirms the absence of defects.
This certificate will accompany the drone through its life and it is possible to control the drone’s efficiency just by comparing the IDB values. The concept of burn-in in drones: the “infant mortality” of technological devices, in industrial production, is reduced drastically with the process of burn-in that is a stress test simulating the activity of the first 3 months of the device’s life, the period that has the highest probability of malfunction. DronesBench is a perfect tool for conducting burn-in tests of drones in a safe and systematic way. For this purpose, we developed a customized software that automate the whole process.

For sellers
Showing off the drone in show rooms creates a significant emotional effect on the potential buyer and a remarkable curiosity in the public. The whirl of the propellers, the flow of wind they create, the lights, the possibility to hold the remote control in your hand and command it instills a favorable reaction in the buyer. For this reason, we also offer a special DronesBench version for fairs that includes special effects like colored headlights, smoke generator, a big screen and speakers. With DronesBench, you can create a real show that also attracts all the passersby to participate.

For research
DronesBench provides immediate feedback on the validity of our engineering choices. For example, when a new propeller becomes available, we can assemble it and verify immediately its efficiency on the drone by observing the variation of the IDB. The IDB, DronesBench Index, indicates the grams of thrust force produced by a single watt of electrical power. An increased value of IDB will mean that the propelling system is more efficient. Having the drone functioning at any capacity just in a few meter’s distance provides the engineers with a series of feedback and responses of fundamental importance.
For repairers
The repairer gets a complete and efficient diagnosis on the behavior of the drone and thus locating the damaged component is precise and quick. For example, if the drone has a specific consumption above the limit: in the diagnosis process, one motor at a time is turned on and in a few seconds it is possible to identify the one that needs to be changed. Calibrations of PID and remote controls reactions are conducted in safety and complete security. After repairing a drone, DronesBench let you carry out a test to check up that IDB, drone weight and battery capacity are compliant with the working limits in order to issue a certificate attesting that the repairer has not modified the technical specifications of the drone permitted to fly.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING TOOL
For flying schools
DronesBench is a useful tool for technical schools that teach fabrication and piloting. Other schools instead can benefit from it regarding the various applications of drones. DronesBench allows demonstrating, testing and calibrating of drones in the classroom or in the workshops in total safety of students and teachers. The provided measurements permit to assess and validate the work done, and allow the students to confront the issues of electrical engineering and aerodynamics in a theoretical/practical way. DronesBench also provides theoretical/practical refresher course on drones dedicated to teachers.

For technical schools
By making their students practice with DronesBench, flying schools can create significant added value to their course. The student does not just acquire experience in handling the remote control, but he also verifies quantitatively the physical impact of the commands. Our software teaches the pilot-to-be to stay idle in the air, to rotate, and to land by carrying out various exercises with a drone they can pilot without any risk.

For pilots
DronesBench is a relevant tool for the companies and persons who specialize in services and thus need to verify by frequent check-ups the “health” of their drones. Relying on the DronesBench database, they can create automatic trends on the health of the drone:
- efficiency variations (IDB),
- balance,
- power of the drone.
These measurements allow the operator to foresee drone failure while it is still on the ground. In this way, they can limit the risks and have enormous savings by avoiding in-flight malfunctions.
